24-Hour Crisis Line
Stopover operates a 24-Hour Crisis Line that is answered by regular staff and volunteers. Referrals to all of our programs are accepted through this line, along with information for other community based services.
Crisis Intervention Shelter
Stopover operates an emergency shelter in a supervised living setting for up to eight youth, male and female, ages 12 to 17. This is a voluntary program and includes intensive home-based, family centered counseling services, transportation, recreation and advocacy.
Stopover also provides non-residential crisis counseling for youth ages 11-18 who do not require the emergency shelter but need counseling.
Youth Development Groups and Activities
Opportunities for young people to develop a sense of competency, usefulness, belonging, and empowerment. Activities are planned with input from young people.
Summer Enrichment Program
An exploration of the world of work and post-secondary education for youth who have been involved in the crisis intervention program.
Community Service Program for Suspended and Expelled Students
Stopover offers crisis intervention shelter residents who are out of school, the opportunity to develop a sense of competence and usefulness, and to focus on life skills through community service projects. Stopover provides community service opportunities for suspended and expelled students in both school based and community based projects.
Transitional Living Program
Stopover provides services to older adolescent youth, ages 16-22, who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. Participants, live in a nurturing residential environment, attend school, are employed and develop life skills. This program focuses on non-systems youth who are unable to stay in their families while transitioning to independent living. Case management services are provided to youth and young adults, ages 16-22.
